State Funeral for Vietnam’s General Secretary

The National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of India (NSA), who is also the Secretary/ the Principal Advisor of the National Security Council of India, Chairperson of the Defence Panning Committee, Chairperson of the Strategic Planning Group H.E. Mr. Ajit Doval accompanied by Ambassador of India attended the State funeral for the respected leader, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, H.E. Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong in Hanoi on 25 July 2024. The NSA also conveyed condolences personally to State President H.E. Mr. To Lam, the Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, the Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and members of the bereaved family. He also expressed India’s solidarity with the people and leaders of Vietnam in this time of grief. 

India’s Defence Minister H.E. Mr. Rajnath Singh visited the Embassy of Vietnam in New Delhi on 25 July 2024 and paid tribute on behalf of the Government and people of India to Vietnam’s General Secretary H. E. Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong. After laying wreath, the Defence Minister expressed condolences to the Ambassador and wrote the condolence book. The Minister recalled the contributions of the departed leader towards strengthening the bilateral relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership and reiterated that India stood with the bereaved family, the people and leadership of Vietnam in this hour of grief.
