Condolences from India on the passing away of General Secretary, H.E. Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong

President of India H.E. Droupadi Murmu has communicated to the State President of Viet Nam H.E. To Lam, on behalf of the Government and people of India, heartfelt condolences on the demise of General Secretary H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong. She also conveyed sympathies and solidarity with the President and the people of Viet Nam and with the family of the departed leader in this difficult time.

Prime Minister of India H.E. Narendra Modi has expressed that he was saddened by the news of the passing away of the Vietnamese leader, General Secretary H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong. He paid respects to the departed leader.  He extended deepest condolences and solidarity with the people and leadership of Vietnam in this hour of grief.

Parliament of India (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) at their Session on 22 July 2024 expressed deepest condolences to the people and leadership of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on the passing away of General Secretary H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong. It has sent deepest sympathy to his bereaved family and to the people of Vietnam. It expressed the Parliament’s solidarity with the people and leaders of Vietnam in this time of grief.  The Parliament noted that apart from General Secretary’s wise leadership of Vietnam’s progress and development over decades, he had contributed to India-Vietnam friendship and to the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. It recalled General Secretary’s state visit to India in 2013 and the Speaker, Lok Sabha remembered his meeting with the General Secretary in Hanoi in April 2022. The Parliament of India paid its respects to the departed leader.
