Celebration of India Day - a Festival of Unity in Diversity

“India Day” at Embassy of India, Hanoi

“The India Day – a Festival of Unity in Diversity” was celebrated enthusiastically at the Embassy premises in Hanoi on 18 March 2023. The event witnessed sound participation of the diaspora and friends of India, including President of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Ms. Nguyen Phuong Nga, and members of diplomatic communities.  

The timing of the event, organised in collaboration with members of the Indian community in Hanoi and Vietnamese friends of India, coincided with the 75 anniversary celebrations of India’s independence known as “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, 50 years of India-Vietnam diplomatic relations, India’s Presidency of G-20 and the International Year of Millets.

The four-hour-long fair showcased India’s rich diversity through cultural performances, cuisines from different parts of India and an exhibition of Indian garments, art and craft, henna or mehndi etc. Since 2023 is the International Year of Millets as declared by the United Nations General Assembly, the Indian cuisines also included food items made from millets.
