At a virtual event held on September 23, 2021, the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Collaborative Research with M/s Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (NPB) JSC of Vietnam.

Under the MOU, THSTI would extend testing assistance to NPB for assessing the immunogenicity of the Nano Covax vaccine which is one of the indigenous vaccines being developed in Vietnam against COVID-19.  The results from such assessment would provide critical inputs to enable NPB to seek the authorisation for emergency use of Nano Covax vaccine from the Government of Vietnam.

THSTI is a premier institute of India with state-of-the-art facilities for such testing of vaccines and specialises in various cutting edge research in the healthcare sector.  The MOU signed between THSTI and NPB is a concrete manifestation of the close cooperation between India and Vietnam in supporting each other’s efforts in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
