Handover Ceremony of US$ One Million of Indian Assistance
For Army Software Park in Nha Trang

1. In a simple ceremony on 11th August 2021, Ambassador Pranay Verma handed over a cheque for USD 1 million to Sr Lt Gen Hoang Xuan Chien, Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of National Defence in Hanoi. This is the first tranche of the USD 5 million grant assistance provided by Government of India to Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defence for establishment of the Army Software Park at Telecommunication University in Nha Trang. An agreement for implementation of this project was concluded between the two sides on the margins of the virtual summit held on 21st December 2020 between the Prime Ministers of the two countries.

2. The new building of the Army Software Park was inaugurated on 12th January 2021 at Nha Trang. India’s grant assistance of USD 5 million shall be utilized for establishing the Park’s IT infrastructure. The Army Software Park is a modern symbol of the long standing Defence partnership between India and Vietnam and will play an important role in IT and language training for Defence forces of Vietnam. At the event, Ambassador Pranay Verma affirmed India’s commitment to assist Vietnam in strengthening its IT and Defence capacities. He added that this important project will contribute to further deepening of India-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
