Guidelines for Internship at the Embassy of India, Hanoi

The internship programme provides an opportunity for young scholars to familiarize themselves with the functioning of diplomatic missions and implementation of foreign policy.

Internship will be for a maximum of three months.

At any given point of time in a calendar year, a maximum of two interns will work with the Embassy simultaneously.

All applications received will be checked initially at the Embassy and if found suitable, shall be forwarded to Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi where the applications will be further scrutinized by a selection committee. Applicants may also be called for a personal interaction/interview and for verification of original documents at the Embassy. The decision of the Selection Committee shall be final and binding and no queries shall be entertained after the completion of the selection process. Applicants are advised to apply at least one month before the intended date of start of the internship.

Interns shall report to and work under close supervision of the concerned Head of Division (HOD) or Head of Mission (HOM). They may be required to analyze evolving developments, write reports, assist specific functions in any wing of the Embassy or carry out any other task entrusted to them by the HOD/HOM.

Necessary logistical support will be provided to interns taking into account the functional requirements. No financial remuneration shall be paid to the interns. Internship programme shall neither be an employment nor the assurance of any employment.

Embassy of India, Hanoi will issue a certificate upon successful completion of the internship. The intern is also required to submit his/her views and feedback on the internship programme to the Embassy.

The Embassy of India, Hanoi may terminate engagement of intern at any point without giving any reason, as the Embassy deems fit. The decision of the Embassy of India, Hanoi shall be final in this regard. Intern can choose to leave the programme, if she/he so desires, giving prior notice of one week to the Head of Chancery, Embassy of India, Hanoi.
Eligibility Criteria:

Interested Indian citizens, OCI card holders or foreign nationals with a minimum educational qualification of a relevant graduate degree from a recognized university at the time of applying.

Candidates should possess a valid work permit if applicable in Vietnam for the entire duration of internship. Embassy of India, Hanoi will not be responsible for providing visa/work permit/resident permit to the applicant, if selected for internship.

Students who are in the final or prefinal year of an undergraduate course.

Preference will be given to applicants with excellent academic track record with recommendation from faculty who have taught/guided them and to research scholars.

Age of the candidates should not exceed 30 years as on the date of application.

Candidates must have good language skills in English.

Copy of at least three documentary proofs of identity and of residence.

Curriculum Vitae.

Introduction letter from the Head of Institution on the official stationery where the applicant studied/studying.

No objection certificate from University/Institution in case the internship is to be pursued in parallel with an ongoing course.

Self-attested certificates and transcripts for all the accomplishments mentioned in Paras 8, 9 and 13 of Application Form (educational qualifications, current courses being pursued and projects undertaken).
